Launched by Lydec in December 2018, the work on the Hay Sadri rainwater storage gallery in Casablanca is fully completed, with the aim of protecting this district and neighboring districts against flooding by storing a volume of water of up to 14,000 m³ during rainy episodes.

This work, costing 182 million DH, will also protect Mohamed Bouziane Avenue and Boulevard 10 Mars against overflows up to a ten-year rainfall intensity (22 mm/hour).

The gallery, jointly financed by Lydec (111 million DH) and the Works Fund (71 million DH), has impressive dimensions, Lydec CEO Jean-Pascal Darriet told MAP. This is a horseshoe-shaped collector with a length of about 1.4 km and a diameter of 4 meters (DN4000), buried at a depth of 30 meters and up to 40 meters in some places.

This work is part of a structuring project aimed at protecting the entire eastern part of Casablanca against flooding, the Eastern Reinforcement System (SRE), whose overall cost amounts to more than 2 billion DH, according to a preliminary estimate of the Storm Drainage Master Plan, according to the manager.
